Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
📚 Subjects Offered:
I tutor physics, mathematics, and chemistry for GCSE and A-levels, and also provide preparation for entrance exams like PAT, MAT, ESAT, TMUA and STEP.
💻 Online Lessons:
All lessons are conducted via Zoom, where I share my screen using interactive tools to enhance learning.
3. Can I schedule a free trial lesson?
🎓 Free Evaluation:
While I do not offer discounts or free trial lessons, I do provide a free evaluation test before the first lesson. This helps me understand each student's needs and allows me to customise a teaching approach that best fits their learning style.
4. Can you support any student to achieve an A?*
⭐ Achieving Top Grades:
I believe that all students are different. Just as I might struggle to achieve a C grade in English literature, even with a good teacher, some subjects might not come naturally to every student. My role is to develop each student's potential through structured learning. However, with the right teaching approach and dedication, I believe that achieving at least a B grade in both physics and maths is feasible for anyone.
5. What kinds of students in the past have the greatest chance to get an A?*
🎯 Key Factors for Success:
In my experience, there are two pillars to success in A-levels:
Students who learn effectively at school and use my lesson time to tackle more challenging problems.
Students who are hardworking and consistently practice the questions I provide.
Unfortunately, students who face challenges such as having substitute teachers or teachers inexperienced in physics/maths may find it more difficult to achieve A* grades. I can only offer about 4 hours of tutoring a month, which is far less than regular school support. Without strong support from school, achieving an A* can be challenging. However, there have been students who significantly improved from a C to an A/A* in a short time by dedicating a lot of effort to revising and utilising the resources provided.
6. How does payment work? Do I need to pay by subscription?
💳 Payment Process:
For the first lesson, payment should be made 24 hours prior to the session. After that, you can transfer the lesson fee after each lesson and before the next one. No subscription is needed. However, if you prefer to pay for multiple lessons in advance, payments should be made before those lessons.
7. Can I have two subjects in a one-hour lesson?
🕒 Combining Subjects:
I personally don't mind covering different subjects in a lesson. However, splitting a lesson between different subjects usually leads to ineffective learning because it doesn't allow enough time to cover both theories and exam skills thoroughly.
8. Can I have a 1.5-hour lesson?
🕒 Combining Subjects:
⏳ Lesson Duration:
Yes, we can arrange 1.5-hour lessons. However, since my lessons are highly intense and packed with content, students may find it stressful and lose focus after one hour, potentially sacrificing teaching outcomes and efficiency. I recommend having two separate lessons to achieve maximum learning efficiency.
